Two Icelandic films at TIFF


Metalhead, Ragnar Bragason´s latest film and This is Sanlitun, by Róbert I. Douglas where selected to take part at the Toronto International Film Festival this year. Metalhead will have a world premiere during the festival before getting it´s place at the local cinema in beginning of October. Both the films will take part in the the category "Contemporary World Cinema". 

Málmhaus or Metalhead tells the story of Hera, played by Þorbjörg Helga Dýrfjörð, that lives a carefree life on a farm until tragedy falls on her and her family. Her older brother dies in an accident and she falls into depression blaming herself for his death. She finds solace in death metal and dreams of becoming a rockstar.

This is Sanlitun is about Gary who is trying to make his fortune in Peking. After failing to convince investors of his great ideas he starts teaching English. At the same time his friend, Frank, tries to teach him the life lessons of China. After Gary’s ex wife and his son come into play it becomes more apparent why he wants to stay in Peking.
