Synopsis

New York-based Katrín is returning to her native Iceland for her grandfather's 70th birthday. Her family in Reykjavik unwittingly engages her in discussions about marriage, children and her future – while she sneaks in phone calls to her girlfriend in New York. As she struggles with coming out, events reveal that other family members have secrets of their own.

Director

Isold Uggadottir is an Icelandic filmmaker based in New York City. Her directorial debut, FAMILY REUNION, premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2007. It subsequently traveled to over 90 film festivals, collecting 10 festival awards, as well as an Icelandic Academy Award (Edda) nomination for Best Short Film. Her 2nd film COMMITTED was awarded Best Short Film at the Icelandic Academy Awards in 2010. It is currently on the festival circuit, along with her latest film, CLEAN, which premiered at the Aspen Shorts Fest in April 2010 and has been invited to a number of festivals, including Nordisk Panorama 2010. Indiewire called CLEAN “an unflinching drama.” Screen International named Isold one of the “rising stars of Icelandic film” in 2008. She recently completing her MFA in directing and screenwriting at Columbia University’s Graduate Film Program.
